Honey, Yum! How much do you already know about the Honey Bee?
All honey bees are from Eurasia, so many people call them European Honey Bees. This means that they are not a native bee; humans brought them here to North America. They are known for their honey of course. They are also known for building their colonies from wax. They are known for helping farmers pollinate their crops and therefore help produce our food. We may even know someone who “keeps bees”, meaning they have a hive they care for. Of course, many of us know about their sting too! A bee is a bug. So is a spider, millipede, centipede and a worm. We know that a bee is more than a bug, it’s an insect. What makes a bug an insect?
