This is you last share of the 2017 season. All of us here at Our Table are very grateful to you for having been a part of of our food community. Thank you for eating with us, and thank you for your patience when the logistics of food delivery or vagaries of nature didn't go as planned! As we look towards 2018, we are planning some big changes to our CSA program so please watch for email with further details in the coming weeks. We've almost completed our 2018 crop planning, from arugula to winter squash, and are ready to dive into the year to grow something special. Seeding has begun in our greenhouse with onions, leeks, and sugar snap peas getting ready to sprout in the coming days. Your share this week includes: winter root mix (golden globe turnip, black radish, purple top turnip), leeks, red onions, German Butterball potatoes, collard greens, and frozen blueberries. German Butterball is the most versatile potato, and works well when steamed, baked, mashed or fried. Because the potato has a buttery quality, I enjoy making an olive oil mashed potato with them. The extra butter and cream in traditional mashed potatoes isn’t missed in recipes like this. And it keeps it allergen free, so you can confidently share with all your friends and neighbors! The potatoes store best unwashed in a cool, well-ventilated, and dark place. The frozen blue berries are a great edition to you breakfast smoothies or dessert. With 10 acres on our farm, they are definitely our favorite berry, and a superfood! | Did you know that the CSA was our first customer direct farming project here at Our Table? With each season, we have grown and refined our offerings. It’s been a fantastic opportunity to connect with the community, and a great tool for learning. Keep an eye out for our 2018 CSA subscription announcement in late February. |
Please take a moment to find all the CSA bags you might have collected over the season and do us a huge favor by bringing them back to your pick up site by Wednesday, Feb 7th. We need those bags!!
