Today Isaac and I had to abandon Dylan for basically the whole day while we went to select and purchase giant recycled beams from a reclaimed lumber yard in Aurora. You can see in the picture above we're in the process of unloading them off of the truck with the tractor, that is until I distracted them for a photo op. Dylan has been working hard messing with the building plans with Narendra, and marking headers with stud locations (see I'm even getting the lingo down), so Isaac and I took the time to make the multiple trips to get the beams. These things are huge and will soon be holding up the giant tresses in the atrium of the farm stand. It's going to look really great with all the rustic looking old wood exposed and stained to match. I can't wait to see how it'll all be put in place, it's going to be quite an undertaking.
Josh was away today at a conference learning how to conquer the world with winter squash so I didn't see him at all, but I did see Forrest very briefly, though only in passing and for a few minutes when our lunches overlapped. He was busy working with Eugenio and Anatolio setting up the overhead irrigation in the hoop houses and getting on top of the greenhouse seeding. It's still too wet in the fields to get out there and do any tilling or planting so focus on indoor jobs has been the priority, but there is definitely no shortage there. Seeding and getting that irrigation set up was on the top of the list, but now with that done we can focus on getting more greenhouse tables built because the ones we've got are filling up fast with little seedlings. Hopefully we'll get a dry stretch and then we'll be able to actually start putting the stuff in the fields. Wouldn't that be great? Fingers crossed!
Til' next week,
Louis
