New this week to the roster are Jimmy Nardello sweet Italian peppers, collard greens and a Calibra yellow onion. Jimmy Nardellos are my favorite sweet pepper, they have excellent flavor and fry up really well! I love throwing them in any stir fry or on top of a pizza or just eating them raw. The Calibra onion is a sweet and mild onion that is very versatile. Collard greens...these hearty greens are extremely healthy for you and are delicious. I like to sauté them with garlic, onion and maybe some chili oil and add them to a meal. A lot of people like to steam them also. Since it is so hot out there, if you find your cilantro is a bit wilty just put it in some water like you would flowers and it should perk back up. Happy eating! Jen Our kitchen busted out a ton of delicious prepared meals for you to enjoy this weekend. Stop by the on-farm grocery to grab ready-to-heat dinner to go! Today's share includes a new type of French bean and some garlic. The garlic looks a little rough around the edges but it tastes great. Rust fungus has always been an issue here in the Pacific Northwest but this year was especially bad... The whole Allium family (onion, garlic, leeks) are particularly susceptible to rust fungi and our garlic was not happy! It doesn't affect the flavor but does reduce the head size. We included several heads in your share to make up for their small size. We hope you enjoy! Jen Quick post today...busy Monday...didn't even have time to take a photo! In the share this week we have kale, summer squash, lemon cucumber, spring onion and cherry tomatoes. The only thing you haven't had from us this season yet is the kale and boy are we proud to finally have it. There are always certain crops that give us farmers headaches, each year generally being different... This year with the weather and pests it was hard to imagine ever having kale so we hope you enjoy!
