Welcome to Fall CSA! Your farmers are very excited about the turn of the season. Some notes on your share: Bellesque Frisee is a type of chicory. Chicories are related to lettuces, but have sturdier leaves and a more assertive flavor famous for their bitter edge. Frisee is one of the more mild types and is delicious in salads. There are a lot of great recipes out there to use frisee--so many that I couldn't pick one. The leeks in the share are early...perhaps we could call them "baby." We just couldn't resist as they are such a symbol of fall. Leeks can be used in a variety of ways much like an onion (they are in the same family). Saute in butter and you'll be happy. Potato leek soup is also ahhmmmaazzing. Until next time, Jen |
