This week in the share:
Radicchio OR Pan di Zucchero (Sugarloaf)
It is chicory time again! The deer (I know, we are just as sick of this excuse as you probably are) munched away on our chicories this year so we had to split up the variety. Some are getting Radicchio while others are getting Sugarloaf. Both are amazingly delicious and can be used in salads, sautéed, roasted and more. Both are sweet from the cold weather
Shallot
A wonderful, savory shallot that is easy to peel and superbly flavored. Elongated bulbs have coppery red skins with cream-colored flesh and lilac interior rings. Conservor is quite versatile and is just as lovely in homemade vinaigrette as it is sautéed and served over your favorite meat dish.
Russet Potatoes A classic but grown by your farmers!
Brussels Sprouts
One of my top vegetables, these guys are the best. Sweet and tasty from the cold weather, brussels are wonderful roasted, sautéed or even shaved fresh into a salad.
Also, Mallory mentioned this in her email but your farmers are very excited to announce that will be launching some additional CSA formats alongside our small share starting in May 2016! We've been working hard for the past few months to design a CSA model that will be tailor made to your own needs and tastes, as well as one that incorporates all of the Certified Local Food produced by the farmers and artisans of Our Table Cooperative. Keep your eyes peeled for more information in the coming months and be ready to sign up in March!
See ya'll in 2016!
