The share today is big and green with a lot of stuff that's sweetened up with the colder weather that we've been having. Both the kale and the carrots have certainly gotten sweeter, and both are included in the shares this week for you to see for yourselves.
The large green lettuce-like head Is a variety of escarole called 'Cornet' that has the buttery texture and flavor of a butter head lettuce along with a hint of the bitterness of a chicory. It's sweet enough to be eaten raw in a salad, but it can also be sautéed and added to pastas or cooked in soups.
Our Samantha lettuce is still doing ok too so a small head of that is included along with a few sprigs of parsley to round out the shares with a little more flavor. We were also able to get enough fall broccoli shoots to give out to one drop site, so if you're a lucky one you'll get some of that today, otherwise they'll make their way into the rest of the shares throughout the fall as they continue to grow.
Thanks for reading, happy eating, and I'll talk to you on Thursday!!
