Usually the Monday and Thursday shares are pretty much the same. This week we've made a few changes to the share so an update seemed in order.
Instead of zucchini the bags have cucumbers today. We're growing several types. Manny is a light green tender skinned cuc, and Marketmore is a classic slicer with dark skin and white flesh.
We also added favas to the bags. This is the only harvest for favas. There are a number of ways to prepare these big beans. I simply shell the beans out of the pods and then sautée them with a bit of garlic. A lot of folks boil the shelled beans until they turn bright green and then dunk them in cold water and pull the thick outer skin from the bean. I've also read that you can boil the whole pod in heavily salted water until it falls apart, but I've never tried it myself.
