Today's share might be slightly different than Thursday this week. Sometimes it's hard for us to know how fast things will ripen. This week in guessing that Monday will get Basil and next week it'll go to Thursday. That might also be the case with the first of the tomatoes, but we won't know for sure until after harvest on Thursday morning. I'll try to post an update then..
Field tomatoes are starting to ripen so we're putting a few in shares today. There are seven types we're growing this year, three small saladettes and four cherries. Moscovitch, on the top left, is a regular old red tomato with great flavor. Japanese Black trifele, top center, is pear shaped with "black" shoulders, more greenish purple really, in my mind. On the top right is Jaune Flamme, almost an oversized yellow cherry. Bottom left in the photo is Black Cherry, a big flavorful cherry tomato. Next to that is Sungold, a perennial favorite. New to us this year are Pink Bumble Bee, the red streaked cherry, and Gobstopper, a light green, stocky cherry. We'll continue to put varying mixes of these tomatoes in the shares as long as they keep producing, probably through September
